Blood

Ingredients:

2 pounds apples 1/2 cup (or more) beet 1/4 cup fresh-squeezed lime (or lemon) juice and
2 tablespoons ginger, unpeeled

Directions:

Chop and juice ingredients. There was something different about my beets. I think they turned out to be unidentified turnips from my CSA box. Oops! But the taste was similar... Chill and enjoy. From Raw by Juliano.

  1. Not sure if I'd try the recipe, but I love the beet photo!

  2. I love "Raw"! It's such a great book. I went to his restaurant a couple of years ago and the raw food there was incredible! Thanks for sharing this recipe. :)

  3. I absolutely love juicing! I'll definitely have to check out the book. Funny, I was just telling DH yesterday how I want to find more raw food recipes. Great timing!

  4. Lisa, why don't you think you'll try it? Do you not like beets? It is such a wonderful mixture, though. Too bad you don't live close. I'd invite you over to try some. :)

Jennifer, I love Juliano's book, too. I am not a raw foodist in any sense (I eat meat, too). So, I haven't tried alot of the foods. But someday I'll have a dehydrator and give more of them a try. I am definitely in love with the blood juice AND the avocado carob pudding. Another unlikely, but sooo delicious, recipe. Did you go to his restaurant in (what is it?) Walnut Creek? I'll have to go check it out. There are so many good eateries. I also want to check out Cafe Gratitude in San Francisco. :)

MamaRose, the nice thing about Juliano's book is the great photographs with every recipe. That really makes a cookbook, for me.

  6. This must be a "sign" - I saw some ginger/(some fruit) juice at the store the other day and thought, "I would really like to try that..." Now I have a recipe :) Thank you!

  7. Kristie! I've been meaning to write you. This must be a sign, too--I need to get off my butt and do it. ;)

Yes. Try the juice. You must. It's delicious.

Now I will go write you.
